As a child I experienced some pretty traumatic events. I won’t go into detail but they were left buried, deep in my mind, culminating in decades of my adult life being tainted with fear, anger, mistrust and regular night terrors. For whatever reason I didn’t want to burden my parents with the things that happened to me, so I didn’t have the support that a child would need to deal with such events.
Abuse Survival..
Stored memories and energy from past trauma can cause nervous system dysregulation. Whether that trauma was from a car accident, abuse survival, a difficult birth, a death, being in combat or any other emotional trauma. The fall out symptoms of these different traumas can all be similar.
Stored and trapped trauma can cause; heightened anxiety, poor sleep, poor decision making, panic attacks, poor eating habits, unhealthy addictions and unusual personal traits.
Ruin Relationships..
If we do not properly process our trauma/experiences, they build up over time and they become toxic. We then also unknowingly project our issues onto others, sometimes even repeating the trauma we went through onto someone else. They contaminate and ruin our relationships with ourselves and with those we love, trust me. I know, I’ve been there!
That said, no matter what type of trauma you have endured, we have to face the realities of our lives if we wish to live our fullest lives and be at peace with ourselves. We have to plough through and confront them, live with them, and accept that they are a part of our story.
Many people have been through more trauma than I have, but I can understand what it’s like to have trauma invade your temple, your sanctuary and to be out of control of something that is happening to your person.
