Having suffered from stress to the point of mental breakdown, this topic is close to my heart. I know just how crippling it can be…It’s overwhelming and exhausting!

So stress is a normal part of life. But when prolonged, it may have negative effects on our health. Working long hours, doing the job of two people, carrying out family obligations, stewing in traffic jams. Even coping with financial issues. They all contribute to the high levels of stress in our lives. So this build up of stress eventually creates imbalances in our physical, emotional and mental health.

So if you find that you suffer from periodic bouts of insomnia, or you experience tense muscles, this can signify adrenaline drive. Where the body doesn’t “switch off” the adrenalin.

Over time, this depletes the nervous system and plays havoc with the immune system, digestion and the ability to wind down and relax. When we are in fight or flight mode, the digestion and immune systems shut down. Because they are not as ‘vital’ in an emergency. Your body doesn’t differentiate between real danger or having a stressful day.
